Boating on the North shore of Chicago is one of the best places to go boating because it's close to home and it's normally not to busy on the lake unlike boating off of downtown Chicago or in any of the nearby lakes like Fox Lake or Lake Geneva which can have very heavy boat traffic. I have been boating since I was a young boy with my dad in Lake Geneva, then Lake Michigan in Belmont harbor and then Wilmette harbor. I moved to Winnetka in 2006 and soon after I bought a Sea Doo Jet boat and have been enjoying boating on the North Shore ever since. The Sea Doo Jet boats make the perfect boat for boating with children, because it does not have an out drive that normally protrudes out 2 feet from the back of the boat you don't have to worry about the kids getting hurt hitting it. Plus the Jet drive is flush with the bottom of the boat so you can go into very shallow water about 1 foot deep compared to a stern drive that hangs down 3 feet into the water.
